I spoke a lot on sunscreen and its importance, if we get in this topic, recently, I found some of my friends getting worried seeing the sunscreen market. Not one good, right? there are a lot of good sunscreens with great protection factors starting from Derma Co, RE’ EQUIL to our recent Minimalist. But the problem here lies in choosing the right sunscreen for your skin type and preference. So, with no further talks, let’s get into the blog!

Sunscreens for Oily skin / Matt Finish

People with oily skin, usually opts for a fresh matt look. The best sunscreen in this world I would say for a fresh look would be the RE’ EQUIL one. My second and third choice would be La Roche-Posay and Eucerin. RE’ EQUIL is a thicker mousse formulation and can be applied on dried skin, whereas La Roche-Posay and Eucerin are a bit more towards lotion side and can be applied on damp skin.

All three will give you a dry touch, fresh and non-oily finish. Any matt finish lovers can go for RE’ EQUIL and the other two will give you normal to glowy skin finish without white cast.

Sunscreens for Normal skin / Skin-like Finish

I have categorized the sunscreens which give you a skin like finish under normal skin, anyone who likes this finish can use these sunscreens. None of the sunscreens I mentioned here are greasy or oily since nobody likes wearing a oil film on their face, even if they prefer glowy finish right.

So, if you are a person prioritizing the finish of sunscreen, no matter under what skin types they are placed, you can try them out since it’s not at all going to grease you out.

My first preference for skin like finish would be the Bioderma tinted sunscreen and the second is Derma Co and finally the most lightweight sunscreen I have known, the Happier. Bioderma, since tinted gives you a medium to light coverage and a very beautiful natural glow.

If you are someone looking for an invisible gel sunscreen and on an oily to normal skin side, just blindly go for Sunscoop Invisible gel, works magical, no white cast and as said gives you a skin like finish. Sunscoop also acts as a primer.

I do not know why Episoft, an Indian pharmacy sunscreen brand is not popular, even in India. Such a brilliant watery formulation, very budget friendly. Its formulation is very similar to happier sunscreen, extremely light weight runny gel like formulation.

Sunscreens for Dry skin / Sensitive / Glowy Hydrated Finish

All the sunscreens I’m going to list below will not feel greasy or oily but will give you a moisturizer like feeling, making your skin supple and nourished. You can even skip the moisturizer and go on to sunscreen as these come with added moisturizing agents in their ingredients.

If you are on only slightly drier side, you can even go for Derma Co and this sunscreen come with very good filters and will make your skin moisturized without being heavy or greasy, works really good on acne prone skin though.

Now, under this topic I have categorized the sunscreens into two. First, creamy formulations and the next with lotion like formulation.

We have to admit the beauty of real Korean skincare products, so here comes the best sunscreen for dry and sensitive skin, Quench. Such a creamy gel, light weight with dewy finish, if you are with extremely dry and sensitive skin, you are going to love it.

Second on board (under creamy sunscreens) is our COSRX Daily Sunscreen. It has vitamin E to strengthen our skin barrier and also helps get rid of pigmentation and acne scars, such a brilliant formulation for sensitive skin, will not burn your eyes.

Fix shadow is a very popular Indian Pharmacy skincare and gladly I found that even in US, it is very creamy and light weight, has a little white cast since its very thick but blends so effortlessly and has a long stay, works very well on extremely dry skin.

For people who like hydrating formulation, lightweight lotions which are yet moisturizing, I have two best options for you. First comes La Roche-Posay and then the Eucerin.

La Roche-Posay is on creamy to lotion finish. Oxybenzone free, octinoxate free and oil free, the brand claims to have a melt in milk formulation, and that’s really true. It has a velvety finish and is water resistent. As the brand claims, it also calms down and suits sensitive skin.

Eucerin glides so effortlessly on skin and gives you a dry touch bit dewy finish. Comes with Hyaluronic Acid + Humectants to help hydrate skin. It is also oxybenzone and octinoxate free and is also hypoallergenic.

Sunscreens for Acne Prone Skin

I’m going to list out few sunscreens which I have already mentioned on top suitable for acne prone skin, based on the skin type or the finish you like, you can pick up anyone.

#1 Derma Co – Very minimal sheer and skin like finish, suitable for all skin types

#2 RE’ EQUIL – This will not get absorbed into our skin, a velvety layer just sits on top, suitable for those who wants a fresh matt look and like to apply sunscreen on dry skin (also for reapplication).

#3 Episoft – Very good formulation from Indian Pharmacy for those who want a moisturizer like finish. Works well on sensitive skin.

#4 SunScoop – It’s an Invisible primer like sunscreen. Totally transparent, if you have any acne pits or active acne, it just is going to sit on top of it and protect you from sun and pollution, works best as primer and under makeup.
