You may think how all of this can be combined and said under one roof. Though skincare is subjective, a lot of steps is common for all people, only the brand and ingredients should be decided. After reading this complete article you will understand my words. So, let’s get started.
PM Skin Care Regime
Cleansing
At first, I will introduce you to the most popular CTM routine. Cleansing is the most essential step and is followed by everyone, but are you doing it right? It is definitely not right for you go blindly to any cleanser considering its usage. What’s primarily to be considered is your skin and its needs, lets dive deep.
Starting from oily skin, if oiliness, clogged pores, acne is your primary concern, go for a foaming yet non stripping cleanser like the RE-equil fruit AHA BHA cleanser. It is good if your cleanser comes with de-clogging actives like salicylic, glycolic and all AHAs and BHAs but no worries if it doesn’t. Because your cleanser is going to sit barely on your skin for 3 to 4 minutes and these actives are of very little use here. The hardest part here is going to be, finding a foaming cleanser which is non stripping. Sometimes, like in the mornings when your skin feels normal you can go for a simple and gentle cleansers like the Cetaphil one.
The next question here is how to use your cleanser and wash your face? HAHA! not what you think. Choosing and using your cleanser can make or break your skin. Trust me when I say this, how you use your cleanser is equally important to how you choose it. Every cleanser, no matter what, should sit on your skin for at least 3 to 4 minutes. Don’t rub it vigorously, gently massage your cleanser on all corners of your face until you see the foam settling. This happens when all foaming agents on your cleanser is done taking out the dirt. Compared to foaming cleansers, gentle cleansers need more time and massage to take off your dirt.
Cleansing Oil/Balm and Micellar Water
If you are a person, moving outdoors or is used to wear makeup, a cleanser only will never be enough to take off all the dirt from your face and exposed areas. Not cleaning your face completely may also be the result for you to breakout! You will need a cleansing balm/oil or a micellar water first.
Since oily skin is the topic, I would suggest you go for micellar water. The one in Bioderma is extremely good for oily skins. The most popular and affordable micellar water is from Garnier. This helps you to take off gunk deep from pores and also helps dissolve makeup. This is called double cleansing and is even good for people indoors to do it every evening or night. Your skin will turn smooth just by doing this simple change in your skincare regime.
If you think a oil will suit you best and want me to suggest a non comedogenic one, the face shop and klairs go’s really well.
Toner
And then T stands for Toner, will is not a mandatory step if you are on budget, but can be done if you want that extra kick of glow and care. Choose your toner or essence wisely considering your problem. Here when coming to oily skin, Witch Hazel like that of Kaya, Green Tea of mCaffeine, AHAs BHAs like one in True Therapy which are pore minimizing and clarifying. Don’t go for toners with peptides, ceramides or containing high concentrations of hydrators like hyaluronic acid and glycerin etc.,
Other than these, a Pure Rose Water mist or a Thermal Spray like that of Uriage and Avene can also act as brilliant toner if you need to calm down your irritated skin.
Skin Correction
And then before we talk about moisturizers, we will talk about skin corrections. In this part, we will focus on the primary concerns on your face or neck. It should be only one, corrections should be made one by one, so you should first focus only on one of your primary concerns.
If your problem is acne, start from 0.5% salicylic acid like the Pilgrim serum and you can go up to 2% products like Minimalist, Derma Co and BeBodywise. If you are looking for a gel Sebogel is a great choice and you can see immediate results, can also be worn under makeup. Other than this azelaic acid, benzoyl peroxide can also be used. Coming to azelaic acid Deconstruct and Plum serums are very good, go for plum only if you are used to skincare and can tolerate such high concentration. Benzoyl Peroxide is a great product against acne, and it also dries out our skin so works good on oily acne prone skin, use only pea size product.
If you see small numerous skin-colored bumps spread all over your face or in particular area, this is fungal acne or Malassezia folliculitis. Use ketoconazole and you are going to see magic within 2 to 3 days. Ketoconazole is formulated majorly in shampoos, its completely fine to use this shampoo on your face on areas where you have this acne like a mask for 10 to 15 minutes and wash it off.

If your problem is open pores, use niacinamide, vitamin C or retinol, start with very low concentration and do patch test before using it on your face. The UNDERATED 5% niacinamide serum is mind-blowing and affordable. For vitamin C go for Deconstruct or Cipla based on your budget. If you want both vitamin C and Niacinamide together, Dot and Key would be a great option. Only retinols like the one from Foxtale can be used without prescription, to go to high potent forms like Tretinoin and Tazarotene need a prescription.

Retinoids: A Complete Guide, Types, Do’s and Don’ts, How to Start | Glow Regime
Remember, initially you should use only one active based on your primary concern and products like retinol should be used only in nights. All AHAs and BHAs will also do well with open pores. Witch Hazel toner itself is going to do well with open pores. Remember, there is no product in the world to close open pores, you can only minimize the appearance of open pores by using the above products.
Moisturizer
If oiliness or clogged pores is your primary concern, I will suggest you not to layer up your skin care, as this may sit on your pores and make them produce even more oil. Make sure you use non comedogenic products. In this case, skip both your toner and serum/correction part and go for a moisturizer. If your toner is very watery, you can go for it.
The moisturizer you choose should be in gel formulation with no essential oils or any sort of oils (oil-free) and occlusives like ceramides and peptides, also as said earlier, make sure it is non-comedogenic and should be specially formulated for oily skin. It should never make you feel sweaty or like a thick mask sitting on top of your skin, choose a very light and gentle moisturizer.
Go for moisturizers like that in Bioderma, Simple and Cetaphil. If you are looking for gel like moisturizer Neutrogena Hydro Boost is never going to upset you!
Since here we are talking about clogged pores which ultimately results in oiliness, you can go for a moisturizer containing actives like salicylic, azelaic acids, but make sure they are not so potent (anything below 2%) like that in The Dermaco.
The above said regime would be your ultimate, personalized PM Skin Care Regime for oily skin.
AM Skin Care Regime
CTM
The AM regime will also start with a cleanser since we are talking about oily skin, on AMs you have very little to no oil, you can go for a gentle cleanser like the Cetaphil one, massage your face for at least 4 to 5 minutes and wash it off with luke warm water. And then follow it up with a good toner.
Sunscreen
The last step in the mornings would be your sunscreen. Yes! no moisturizer. Here you should wisely pick up a sunscreen which also adds up moisturizing effects on your skin like the Derma co, Cetaphil and Happier ones’, so you need not layer your products and have a sweaty face all the time.
Make sure you go for a SPF like 50 or more with minimum 3 plus. A lot of us know a SPF of minimum 30 is enough, but I say you to go for at least 50 because sunscreens with 50 or more have really better formulations for oily skin.
For oily skin, Re’ equil (needs a moisturizer beneath) and Dermaco works like magic. The one from Happier melts down into your skin, only use Happier if you are ready to reapply your sunscreen every 2 to 3 hours. If you want an invisible gel like finish, Sunscoop is going to be your favorite, trust me!

That Extra Kick
Oily skinned people can also go for a strong peeling solution from Plix once in 2 week, it’s my all-time favorite. once in a month or can do a Chemical peel under certified dermatologists. Remember only one should be done once in 30 days, and as a maintenance procedure, shaving your face can be done in order to take out all the dead skin cells. Face shaving razor from Carmesi doesn’t cut your skin and the razor for body is also available in Carmesi, and Gillette Venus. All the above procedure helps you to take off the top layer of dead cells which is naturally difficult for oily skinned buddies. Don’t dry shave, use any sort of cleansing oil and make sure to apply a post shaving balm.
