Skincare for Bumpy Skin & Skin Texture | Glow Regime

Table of Contents
Bumpy skin and texture on your skin is a serious concern for both men and women. Even if you are doing a proper CTM routine along with a good sunscreen you still may experience bumpy skin despite getting rid of your acne or pigmentation. This is because, not all actives or ingredients you think can help you get rid of texture or bumpy skin.
There are only few skincare ingredients targeting skin texture. Some easy practices with products which you already may have, are also included in this article that are going to make sense at the end.
Coming to bumpy skin you should also know to figure of the difference between actual clogged pores and fungal acne. This article on Fungal Acne helps you identify and treat it using home remedies and products. Do check and try it out!
Now that you are very clear that you do not have fungal acne, we are moving forward to treat your clogged pores.
INGREDIENT ONE
This is the best and supreme one which I have used so far, and it did massive changes on my skin texture. Retinoids, yes, use your retinoid prescription from your dermat or start with lower concentrations of retinols which you easily get in market like the one from Foxtale. Foxtale offers such good and effective products (no promotion :p).
If you are a person using any form of retinoids, just restart, use it very properly. Know the do’s and don’ts of using it, get to know how to slowly incorporate higher concentrations of tretinoin in your skincare regime by Reading this article on Tretinoin where I have also discussed about other forms of retinoids and how to basically start incorporating them in your skincare regime.
Disclaimer
- Higher concentrations and potent form of retinoids should only be used after a prescription, so go run to your dermatologist and ask for it.
- There are a lot of chances that you may experience purging before getting your “THAT SKIN” while using tretinoin, so do not use it before any festival or important occasions. To know more about Purging (after tretinoin) read this article and get to know the products, tips and tricks to treat it.
INGREDIENT TWO
The second most potent active in clearing bumpy textured skin is glycolic acid, if you are already using glycolic acid and know that your skin can tolerate it, either try increasing your concentration or try using other actives which I have mentioned in this article.
Glycolic acid will for sure solve your problem and you will see visible results within 2 to 3 uses. Do not straight away go for a glycolic acid peeling solution, start with 2-4% initially and once you find that your skin can tolerate this active, slowing increase your concentration.
The one which I have been using from DermDoc is a peeling solution and since I have better tolerance I am using a 10% peeling solution. That just have worked wonders for me, I am on my 6th bottle right now. Try lower concentrations from the same brand or also check out DermaCo and Foxtale for this active.

INGREDIENT THREE
This is nowhere less than Glycolic acid, the order is not based on ranking. Here, I have just numbered all the products one by one. Coming to the 3rd active, its Lactic acid! Lactic acid is going to give you dual benefits, those who are looking for 1 active targeting both pigmentation and texture, this is the one. More than glycolic acid this equally targets pigmentation.

The Dr. Sheth’s Liquorice & Lactic Acid Peel has worked wonders on my skin, and you won’t believe me when I say I have almost used 8 tubes in 3 years. This has been my constant companion for so many years. You literally will see results overnight. Apply it on your textured skin, your face and neck leave overnight and wash it off the next morning and you will thank me.

This is Lactic Acid, mild yet effective active, usually comes along with probiotics as serum like the one from Deconstruct. This can be cent percent effective on beginners’ skin but will not do great works on someone who has a lot of texture on skin.
INGREDIENT FOUR
Its Vitamin C, this is also an all-rounder, but a lot of people get fooled by getting vitamin c for 200 or 250 INR, know that the process of extracting vitamin c is harder and to protect it from oxidizing is another task. This makes the overall cost of vitamin c higher.

Vitamin C serums will at least be 500 INR more quality forms goes even more than 1000 INR. The best affordable vitamin c which showed me results without purging my skin was the one from Deconstruct. The vitamin c from this brand played a major role in my initial beginner skincare regime. If you want to buy extreme quality vitamin c serums, check out Cipla.

INGREDIENT FIVE
Our well-known salicylic acid, anyone who know skincare will have salicylic acid serum in their shelves, beginners can for a 2% serum but to be honest, a 2% salicylic serum will take a hell lot of time to treat stubborn texture. This can go well on baby bumps which are very new and have thin layer of skin. But for people having textures for a couple of months or years a 2% salicylic will not work that immediately.

So, a better option would be to first go for a glycolic acid, works best when you clean your skin using a glycolic acid toner on cotton pad regularly twice a day, followed by a good moisturizer or spf.
INGREDIENT SIX
This is Niacinamide. This active is such a good competitor for glycolic acid but a lot of people here, including me are sensitive to niacinamide which when used can immediately cause break outs. If you are used to niacinamide before, if you have been using smaller concentrations of niacinamide earlier and you for sure know that you skin is not sensitive and can tolerate niacinamide well, then this is going to be your Holy Grail!

Go for it, just 1 serum, 1 bottle and you are done. Minimalist offers great products with aloe as base so that it can also be soothing. Niacinamide is an all-rounder, it just almost targets everything including texture, pigmentation, tanning, acne, also helps in brighten up your skin. Rember to follow it up with a good sunscreen or preferably use it in your night skincare regime.
PRACTICE THIS TECHNIQUE ATLEAT ONCE A WEEK
Building up so much product one over another is not good, obviously we all do it when we are stressed out and concerned about our skin, but this is only going to make things worse. Product buildup can interfere in cell turnover and clog dead skin cells in our pores causing further bumps and texture.
This can be avoided by double cleansing your face and neck at least once a week and every day when you wear makeup. Double cleansing is a technique where you cleanse your face first with an oil-based cleanser to dissolve sebum and other oils plus your heavy sunscreen and makeup. And then you follow it up with a regular cleanser.
This can be done by anyone without oily skin, instead of cleansing oil, oily skins can go for micellar water.

Invest in a good micellar water like the one from Bioderma or a cleansing oil. My most favorite cleansing oil is from ANUA, this a lightweight watery cleansing oil, this has worked well for me even on days when I had extremely oily skin when I paired it up with Benzac 5% face wash. Try this cleansing oil + face wash (Benzac) hack and you will never get breakouts or clogged pores post that.
